PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 27, 2013) – Police said an old woman was killed after she hit by a vehicle in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur province in southern Philippines.
It said the victim’s identity was not immediately known, but the driver of the vehicle, Arnold Lapad, of Dumalinao town also in Zamboanga del Sur, has surrendered to the police.
Police said the vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner, is registered under the name of Jearny Cerilles, of Capitol Creek in Pagadian’s Santo District. It said the woman was hit by the vehicle along Pulmones Street in Santa Lucia District and rushed to hospital, but she died along the way from her injuries.
“The victim sustained injuries on her body and was rushed to Pagadian City Medical Center for medical treatment, but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician. Driver voluntarily surrendered to Pagadian City Police Station and undergoes investigation prior filing of appropriate charges in court,” a police statement sent to the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner said.
