DAVAO CITY — Optum Philippines is committed to making its presence felt even more among the people of Davao as it celebrates its one-year anniversary.
Since its inception in 2011, Optum Philippines has grown into one of the nation’s largest healthcare global capability centers. This underscores its leadership in the healthcare industry.
“We are excited to enrich our talents’ experience further. We see the future of our healthcare industry in our workforce today. As such, we have programs in place that support their continued development. The same spirit applies to our initiatives working with our partners from the industry, local government, and the academe. We are optimistic that we can foster and nurture even more Davaoeños and empower them to become leaders in transforming the industry,” shared Ivic Mueco, Optum Philippines’ Managing Director.

Optum Philippines drives healthcare transformation through clinical expertise, technology, and data-driven solutions—delivering better experiences, reducing costs, and improving health outcomes to help individuals achieve their healthiest lives. Optum is a GCC or global capability center, fundamentally driven by its mission to enhance healthcare quality and efficiency. Its extensive capabilities span the entire patient journey—from prevention and diagnosis to treatment, recovery, and ongoing care—ensuring comprehensive support for better health outcomes.

When the community lockdowns eased in 2021, Optum Philippines sought to leverage talent in different parts of the country. Through extensive study, they had found that Davao had a pool of skilled professionals. At the end of that year, around 500 employees formed the first team, working on a home basis. The excellent performance of this pioneering team inspired them to set up offices in the city.
“Establishing our operations in Davao supports our greater purpose of creating a healthier world,” Mueco shared. “Optum is the only global capability center located in Davao, and as such, we can bring high-level, complex opportunities to healthcare professionals based in the region.” (Optum Philippines)
