P1.7-B inilaan para sa ‘waterless’ tourism spots

MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 6, 2014) – Sisimulan ngayong taon ng Department of Public Works and Highways ang implementasyon ng Tourism Water Supply Infrastructure Program na magdadala umano ng tubig sa 30 “waterless tourism spots” sa iba’t-ibang panig ng bansa.

Kasunod ng paglabas ng Department of Budget and Management sa P1.73 bilyon para TWSIP, inihanda na ng DPWH ang “detailed engineering design” ng mga proyekto na pinag-aralan at pinili kasama ang Department of Tourism, Local Water Utilities Administration at National Anti-Poverty Commission.

“Para makatanggap ng mas maraming turista, kailangang mayroong ligtas at sapat na tubig ang mga tourism hotspots. Ang pangangailangang ito ay matutugunan oras na matapos ang ating water source projects. Layunin nating masimulan ang pagpapatupad ng TWSIP sa taong ito o sa lalong madaling panahon,” anii DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson.

Kabilang sa 30 na munisipalidad na mabibigyan ng proyekto ay ang Currimao at San Nicolas sa Ilocos Norte (Region 1); Baguio City sa Benguet (Cordillera Administrative Region); Roxas at El Nido sa Palawan (Region 4B); Aroroy sa Masbate (Region 5); Murcia at San Carlos City sa Negros Occidental, Balete at Libacao sa Aklan; Jamindan at Pres. Roxas sa Capiz at Passi sa Iloilo (Region 6).

At sa bayan ng Central Visayas, kabilang ang 5 sa Cebu – Aloguinsan, Toledo City, San Fernando, Sibonga, at 3 naman sa Bohol: Jetafe, Talibon, at Trinidad.

Gayun rin ang Dapitan City sa Zamboanga del Norte at Zamboanga City (Region 9), Cagayan de Oro City (Region 10), Nabunturan at Montevista sa Compostela Valley at Asuncio, Braulio E Dujali, Carmen at New Corella sa Davao del Norte.

Ang TWSIP ay proyekto ng DPWH, DOT, LWUA, NAPC, kaakibat ang  U.S. Agency for International Development. Layunin mitong mapaunlad ang lokal na ekonomiya at turismo sa Pilipinas.
