
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 27, 2013) – A native of Pagadian City, who was a former felon, was arrested by the police after his gang robbed a pawnshop in Dumaguete City, the Visayan Daily Star reported.
It said Jesuslo Alegria, 42, was captured during a police chase in the town of Sibulan in Negros Oriental, but his companions managed to elude arrest.
Police said Alegria’s group barged into the Agencia Belen pawnshop and disarmed the security guard before taking 9 trays of assorted jewelleries.
It said Alegria, a member of the Sputnik Gang, is believed also to be affiliated with the Alferez Group and other criminal gangs in Mindanao.
Alegria and his gang members had arrived by boat in Dumaguete from Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte and with them were three motorcycles and a black SUV which they used as their get-away vehicles, according to the reports.
