PAGADIAN CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), through the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), is strengthening healthcare services for the people of the region.

Aligned with the Universal Health Care Act, PhilHealth YAKAP is the rebranded Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) program.
During the recent Kapihan sa Rehiyon Nueve, Philip E. Cataylo, the public relations officer of PhilHealth, emphasized the program’s comprehensive coverage.
“Dati curative lang. Ngayon meron na tayong rehabilitative, at preventive na health care services,” he proudly stated.
[Before, services were only curative. Now, we also have rehabilitative and preventive healthcare services.]
He further explained that the program enables individuals to access PhilHealth benefits even before they get sick, without having to pay large amounts of money.
Through this expanded care, members can enjoy free check-ups, cancer screening tests, medicines, and laboratory services.
PhilHealth also clarified that private YAKAP Clinics may charge patients up to the maximum annual amount of ₱900.00 in benefits.
Currently, there are 145 accredited YAKAP Clinics across the region: 36 in Zamboanga City, 35 in Zamboanga del Norte, 50 in Zamboanga del Sur, and 24 in Zamboanga Sibugay.
These clinics are ready to serve registrants and members, ensuring that wherever they go, people can easily access their PhilHealth benefits, according to Cataylo.
This initiative reaffirms the government’s commitment to protect the health and well-being of every Filipino. (EDT/CCP/HAC/PIA9-ZDS)
