ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 2013) – Philippine anti-drug agents killed a leader of a drug syndicate following a firefight Friday in the southern province of Sulu, officials said.
Officials said three other drug dealers were also arrested following the clash in Patikul town. The slain drug lord was identified as Sadjari Amiril.
Adzhar Albani, regional chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, said Amiril was also wanted by authorities for various crimes and considered dangerous.
He said Amiril was trafficking illegal drugs, particularly “shabu” or methamphetamine hydro-chloride, in the southern Philippines and that most of these were smuggled from Malaysia.
Albani said his group is now running after so-called “high value targets” in the region. “Once we get the high-value targets, those on the ground also fall one by one,” he said. (Mindanao Examiner)
