SULU – A small ferry hit a huge boulder on Thursday while sailing off Bongao town in the southern Filipino province of Tawi-Tawi, officials said.
Officials said the Coast Guard, aided by local fishermen, rushed to the area and rescued over four dozen people. No one among the passengers and crew members of the ML Nurhidzra were hurt or injured in the mishap.
But the ferry listed on its port (right) side after water sipped through a hole that the vessel suffered from the accident. The wooden boat, which carried passengers and cargo, was heading to Languyan Island from Bongao town when the mishap occurred.
The Coast Guard said it is investigating the accident which caused panic and fear among the passengers and crew. (Mindanao Examiner)
