KIDAPAWAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 23, 2012) – Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo visited Kidapawan City on Thursday and inspected a local jail following a deadly attack by gunmen that killed 3 people and injured over a dozen more.
Robredo commended authorities for repulsing the February 19 raid blamed by authorities to followers of a notorious bandit leader Datukan Samad, alias Lastik man.
He also visited the wounded and later on held a meeting with top police and military officials on how to prevent similar attacks in the future.
The attackers fled after the foiled rescue of their leader who was arrested in North Cotabato’s Pikit town.
In 2009, gunmen also attacked the prison, but failed to free their arrested companions, but the raid left three people dead. (Geonarri Solmerano)
