MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 10, 2012) – A moderate earthquake hit the Philippines’ Batanes Group of Islands late Saturday, but authorities reported no injuries or damages to structures.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake occurred before 10 p.m. and registered a magnitude of 4.8 in the Richter scale.
It said the epicenter of the earthquake was traced about 34 kilometers near the coastal town of Santo Domingo de Basco.
It added the origin of the quake was tectonic and about 33 kilometers deep. (Mindanao Examiner)
