MANILA — President Benigno Aquino signed a proclamation declaring October 15 as a regular holiday in observance of Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice in the Muslim calendar, state media said.
It quoted Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte as saying that Aquino signed the proclamation on October 3. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Greater Eid, is the second most important festival in the Muslim calendar.
The festival remembers the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son when God ordered him to.
