Philippines, World Food Programme sign MOA on Logistics Information System for Disaster Response Preparedness

MANILA(Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 31, 2012) – The Philippines signed an agreement with the World Food Programme to strengthen the government’s response capacity during disasters.
Secretary Corazon Soliman, of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and World Food Programme Philippines Country Director and Representative Stephen Anderson have signed a Memorandum of Agreement which aims to use information and communication technologies to improve logistics information flow within DSWD, especially in the immediate aftermath of natural disasters, providing the Aquino government with timely and accurate information that will allow for swifter emergency responses.  
WFP National Ambassador against Hunger Kristina Cassandra Concepcion witnessed the signing. The partnership was funded by the United States Agency for International Development /Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance. (Mindanao Examiner)
