DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 26, 2012) – The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – Davao City Chapter (PICE DCC) bagged the top two PICE National Chapter Awards 2012 – the prestigious Most Outstanding Chapter Class A and the Best Celebrated Civil Engineering Month Award.
The recognition was given during the PICE’s 38th National Convention and 75th Anniversary Celebration held from November 22-24 at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City. It was attended by some 3,500 delegates.
With the theme “75 Years of PICE: Great Milestones in the Civil Engineering Profession,” the awards were humbly received by Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero, chapter president, along with other chapter officers and members present.
“This is the first time that the chapter tops these awards and this is history as we got these during the 75th year anniversary of the PICE,” Suero said in a statement sent to the Mindanao Examiner.
“The honors that we get now is an indication that we have already grown to be a dependable and responsible chapter of the PICE as we humbly accomplished remarkably this year all the aspects of our existence from members’ welfare, continuing professional development, community services, involvement to national and local programs and affairs, chapter’s sustainability, strong student affairs, unity and cooperation of membership, among others,” Suero said, adding their chapter’s entry theme was “PICE Davao City soars high in 2012.”
At present, the board of directors of PICE-Davao City are President – Erdsan Rene S. Suero; 1st Vice President – Hector A. Magno; 2nd Vice President – Hilario A. Fernandez; Secretary – Ana Marie C. Marte; Treasurer – Juliet T. Luy; Auditor – Roderick R. Tecson; Business Manager -Juan Claudio Y. Tinga and PIO – Anacleto V. Calamba Jr. The Directors are Cary H. Beatisula, Sharon Angelica G. Bonguyan, Angelita L. Caballero, Silvino G. Presto Jr., Teresita D. Ragonton, Francis R. Rizon, Angel T. Torrejon. Immediate past president and ex-officio director is Albert A. Ancla.
Davao City chapter has the PICE Charter no. 005 and now on 37th year of existence in the city of Davao. It is the only accredited professional organization of civil engineers in the city recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission.
