
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 28, 2013) – Gunmen wounded a town official and killed his companion in an attack Wednesday in Zamboanga del Sur province in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said Noel Mojillo, President of Association of Barangay Councils in the town of Pitogo, was shot several times, but survived the attack, however his companion Edgen Aguilar was killed.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said the duo was travelling on a motorcycle when seven gunmen ambushed them.
“Edgen Aguilar sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body and died on the spot while Noel Mojillo suffered two gunshot wounds on his body however, the latter even wounded, managed to run away from the crime scene,” he said.
Huesca said police investigators recovered bullet casings fired from M16 and M14 automatic rifles in the crime scene. He said police are investigating the motive of the attack and who were behind it. (Mindanao Examiner)
