ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 27, 2014) – Pinuri kahapon ni Mayor Maria Isabelle Salazar ang lokal na pulisya at militar dahil sa pagkakabawi ng dalawang Abu Sayyaf bombs sa isang barangay sa Zamboanga City.
Nabawi ang dalawang 60 mm mortars na itinago sa isang bakanteng lote sa Sitio Salom sa Barangay San Roque kamakalawa.
“We thank police and military operatives for their aggressive efforts to avert security threats with the recovery of improvised explosive devices in San Roque,” ani Salazar na nagsabing resulta ito ng follow up operation matapos na malambat ang dalawang Abu Sayyaf dito.
“Police authorities recovered two 60mm projectile mortars in a secluded area in San Roque in a follow-up operation resulting from the arrest of two suspected lawless elements in the area recently. The timely response of the authorities foiled possible threats to the city’s security,” wika pa ni Salazar.
Nanawagan pa sa publiko si Salazar na makipagtulungan sa mga awtoridad at isumbong ang mga kahinahinalang tao sa ibat-ibang mga barangay. “We urge the public to be proactive by coordinating with police and military authorities. Report the presence of suspicious persons, items and activities in your area. Public safety is everyone’s priority,” sabi nito.
Nadakip nitong buwan lamang ang isang Abu Sayyaf bomber na si Nujir Ahidji sa Southcom Village sa labas lamang ng Western Mindanao Command at si Harijin Jinny na nagtatrabaho bilang security guard sa isang tindahan sa labas naman ng central police office.
Noon nakaraang buwan ay 6 na Abu Sayyaf ang nadakip at dalawa ang napatay ng pulisya matapos nitong lusubin ang hideout ng mga terrorista sa Barangay Santa Maria dito na hindi naman kalayuan sa kampo ng Philippine Air Force. Nabawi sa mga nadakip ang kanilang mga armas at pampasabog. (Mindanao Examiner)
