DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 14, 2014) – Police clamped down Saturday on the release of information to the media on its investigation into the murder of a wealthy businessman in Davao City in southern Philippines.
Police said the move was important so as not to jeopardize the investigation in the killing of Richard King, who owns Crown Regency Hotel and Resort, and other businesses in Cebu province and other parts of the country.
King was shot in the head on June 12 by a lone gunman who walked right
through a seminar inside a building also owned by the victim. The attacker fled on a motorcycle driven by another man after the shooting.
King’s family offered P200,000 reward for any information that would lead authorities to the killer or the mastermind to the murder. Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte also offered an additional P300,000 bounty.
No individual claimed responsibility for the murder, but police are looking into several motives, including King’s businesses, as reason for the killing. (Mindanao Examiner)
