ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police detonated late Tuesday a suspected explosive recovered on a village in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines.
The improvised explosive, concealed in a plastic bottle, was recovered on a road in Guiwan village after it allegedly fell from a motorcycle driven by an unidentified man.
One witness said he saw the bottle fell from the motorcycle and that it had a blinking red light inside. He said he immediately alerted the police about the suspected bomb.
A team of bomb experts inspected the bottle and detonated it. The powerful explosion could be heard from the neighboring village of Tetuan. (Christina Diabordo)
