Police hunt 2 shooters in Isabela City

Editor October 28, 2014
PNP-2B2-2Bcopy2

BASILAN – Police were hunting down two suspected hitmen who shot recently three people in a broad daylight attack in Isabela City in Basilan, mone of five provinces under the troubled Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Police said the gunmen shot village leader Franklin Tan, near the port area and hit two other civilians Joseph Sumalpong and Myrna Sali. The assailants fled on a motorcycle after the shooting.

The three victims were rushed to hospital. The motive of the attack is still unknown, but police said Tan was the target of the assailants, who were armed with .45-caliber pistols.

Gun attacks are not uncommon in Isabela City and most of the killings are largely blamed to guns-for-hire who actively operate in the province. (Mindanao Examiner)
