KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police killed 2 suspected drug pushers during a drug bust in North Cotabato’s Tulunan town, officials said Tuesday.
Officials said Macmac Tamal and Salidato Madidis were fatally shot after they engaged undercover cops who tried to arrest them.
Senior Superintendent Emmanuel Peralta, the provincial police chief, said the two men were killed in the village of Bual. He said their bodies had been handed over to their respective family.
Peralta said policemen also recovered a .38-caliber revolver, a hand grenade and two packets containing suspected methamphetamine and marked money, including a motorcycle the duo had been using in their illegal drug dealings.
He said the suspects also tried to escape and fired on the agents and sparking a fire fight.
“The operatives chased the suspects however; they were fired upon several times by the eluding suspects resulting to the exchange of gunfire. The suspects sustained gunshot wounds in their bodies which resulted to their instantaneous death,” Peralta said.
He said the drug sting was conducted by intelligence operatives of Tulunan police station led by Senior Inspector Felix Fornan in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. (Moh Saaduddin)
