Police kill gang member, 2 others wounded in Kidapawan City

Chief Editor October 12, 2018

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police commandos shot dead an alleged gang member accused of stealing two motorcycles in a firefight that left one policeman wounded in Kidapawan City in North Cotabato province in southern Philippines, officials said Friday.

Superintendent Ramel Hojilla, the provincial police director, said members of the 45th Special Action Force, tracked down 5 people who stole the motorcycles on October 9 in two different bars.

Two of the gang member’s John Alegado, 25, and Kenneth Daray, 35, allegedly engaged the police forces in a shootout. Alegado was eventually killed while Daray, from the town of Makilala in North Cotabato; and PO2 Jeric Solomon, 31, were wounded in the fighting.

Three others, Raylann Betiong, 26; Winston Bayna, 29; and Jake Ramos, 26, – all from North Cotabato’s Makilala town, were arrested.

The wounded policeman and Daray were rushed to hospital. And Alegado’s body was brought to Torreda Funeral Homes. Policemen recovered .45-caliber pistol and a .357-Magnum revolver from Alegado and Daray. (Mindanao Examiner)
