ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 21, 2013) – Police rescued over three dozen fishermen during a storm off Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, officials said Sunday.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said the fishermen in 7 boats were caught up in the bad weather and had been safely rescued.
He said Senior Inspector Chester Nitro Natividad, Labuan Station Commander, together with personnel of 3rd Maneuvering Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 9, led the rescue of 16 fishermen who work for Rumlin Nuval Fishing Company based in Cauming town in Bohol province.
The boats just arrived from Cebu City and were being towed to Tawi-Tawi province because of the bad weather when the vessels cable snapped and eventually capsized.
