CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police seized on Monday a truck transporting illegally cut logs in the town of Rosario in the southern Philippine province of Agusan del Sur, officials said.
Officials said the 30-year old driver, Edcel Salvaleon, is also being investigated by the municipal police after he failed to present any legal permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Salvaleon was intercepted by policemen led by Inspector Arturo Gonato in the village of Kalingayan after residents tipped off of authorities about the truck loaded with 58 huge logs.
The truck is being held by the police while the logs have been handed over to the DENR. Police said it is tracking down the owner of the logs. (Mindanao Examiner)
