Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister, has highlighted the importance of the Prince Naif International Prize for the Prophet’s Sunnah as a vehicle to propagate the values of Islam.
Prince Mohammed said this is part of the efforts made to highlight the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, according to a report in a local publication on Tuesday.
He made the comments during the awards process, which will be concluded in Madinah on Wednesday. He said the awards reflect the efforts of the Kingdom’s founder King Abdul Aziz and his sons to disseminate Islamic values.
He said the prize was launched by the late Prince Naif to spread Islam’s message of moderation. “Prince Naif spent his life reforming our society and nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh praised the organizers for setting up such a project, which he said has been running successfully for 10 years.
Al-Asheikh said memorization of the Prophet’s teachings prevents young people from falling prey to deviant ideologies, because it highlights the most ideal way to behave.(Arab News)
