MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 23, 2011) – In response to President Benigno Aquino III’s appeal to extend due consideration to families and individuals affected by typhoon Sendong (international code name: Washi), British life insurer Pru Life UK is providing policyholders living in the hard hit areas an extended 91-day grace period for premium payments.
The extended grace period covers policy holders – living in Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental province and Iligan City in Lanao del Norte province and Dumaguete City and Valencia in Negros Oriental province – who have premium payments due between November 2011 and January 2012.
“We have extended the grace period for premium payments by adding 60 more days to the standard 31 days. All payments made by policyholders in the said areas during the period covered shall be accepted without interest. We understand that our affected policyholders need a temporary financial reprieve to focus on efforts to create a semblance of normalcy, and to start rebuilding their lives again,” Pru Life UK Chief Operating Officer George Opeda said in a statement sent to the Mindanao Examiner.
He said the Company’s initiative to alleviate the difficulties caused by the natural disaster is in accordance with Aquino’s appeal to provide humanitarian assistance to regions ravaged by the typhoon.
Aquino has declared a state of national calamity.
