MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 24, 2013) – Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile has strongly denied that he withdrew from the senatorial race in the May polls after a satirical website published news reports saying the lawmaker has backed out.

The website which can be accessed on this URL: http://sowhatsnews.wordpress.com reported that: “First district of Cagayan and 2013 Senatoriable Jack Enrile has just announced his withdrawal from this year’s senatorial race. This after his father, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano’s word war turned personal Wednesday night.”

“I wish to inform everybody that I have not withdrawn nor contemplated on the idea of withdrawing from the May 2013 senatorial race. It has come to my attention that some misguided minds have been poisoning the social media through tweets and misleading news about my so-called withdrawal. This is simply not true. I have no reason to withdraw when the race has not even started,” Enrile, son of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, said in a statement sent to the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.

So, What’s News? is a satirical and fictional news website whose aim is to inject humor into everyday news to provide respite to readers who have grown weary with mainstream news organization’s partisan, biases and depressing way of presenting news.

“Again, let it be said that there is simply no truth to the rumor. What is true is that I have stepped up my resolve to see this electoral exercise to its very end. Win or lose,” said Enrile, who constantly topped separate surveys conducted by Social Weather Station and Pulse Asia on preferred senatorial candidates by Filipinos. (Mindanao Examiner)
