
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 7, 2013) – An unidentified man armed with an automatic rifle shot and killed a farmer and wounded his companion in an attack in the town of Dimataling in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said Saturday.
It said Jomar Espaniola and Gelson Abogada were drinking inside the house in Purok Tres in the village of Sugbay Uno when the assailant, armed with M16, sneaked into the window and opened fire.
Abogada, who was shot 6 times, died instantly from the attack, while Espaniola is in critical condition after being shot 3 times in the chest and is now in hospital in Pagadian City.
The local police chief Jake Kapitly said they recovered bullet shells from outside the Espaniola’s house and that they are investigating the attack. He said a team of policemen were deployed to track down the assailant. (Mindanao Examiner)
