Riyadh flays ‘racist’ attacks on refugees – Arab News

Editor December 1, 2015

The Council of Ministers has condemned the recent spate of attacks on refugees, including Muslims, escaping from oppressive regimes and terrorists groups in the region.
At a Cabinet meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday afternoon, the ministers stated that they were “deeply concerned about the increasing hostile, racist and non-humanitarian rhetoric against refugees in general, and Muslims in particular.”
In a statement to the SPA, Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Toraifi said the ministers urged governments, aid agencies, civil society organizations and the media to refrain from this “racist rhetoric and contribute to raising awareness and assuming responsibility for the protection of displaced people and refugees fleeing from … unjust authorities and terrorist groups.”
The ministers condemned the terrorist attacks in Egypt’s Al-Arish City, Al-Khamis City in Libya, and a Republican Guard bus in Tunisia, which resulted in the death and injury of several people, and said there was a “need to redouble international efforts to root out this dangerous scourge” threatening countries across the globe, he said.
The ministers also praised the Ministry of Interior for blacklisting individuals and groups in the Kingdom supporting the Lebanon-based Hezbollah movement’s “wicked” activities in the Middle East.(ARAB NEWS)
