SULU – Representatives from an Arab foundation have visited Sulu province in southern Philippines and offered to put up an Islamic institution that would benefit many Muslims here.
The group, led by Fahad Saud Al-Mousa, Ayesh Alharthi Nawar and Almjuaid Abdullah Ma, met recently with Governor Tooth Tan and local religious leaders headed by Sulu Mufti Jul Asiri Abirin and other provincial officials at the Capitol in Patikul town and discussed the projects.
They were part of the Saudi-based Uthman bin Affan Foundation for Development Relief, Dawah and Education, Inc. who are composed mostly of Arab teachers, businessman and engineers – who offered to provide school buildings and teachers to further Islamic education in the province.
They also inspected various sites in the towns of Indanan and Maimbung where the projects would be put up.
Tan thanked the foundation for the projects and pledged to support it. The Arabs also presented Tan with tokens and in return, the governor handed the visitors with a coffee table book which features Sulu’s rich and colorful history and heritage. (Ahl-franzie Salinas)
