Saudi-French peace efforts, drive to crush terror hailed- Arab news

Desk Editor March 8, 2016

The Council of Ministers has lauded the communiqué issued by the Kingdom and France, which committed the nations to improving political and economic ties, resolving conflicts in the Middle East, and fighting terrorism.
This was the message from the Cabinet on Monday, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.
It comes in the wake of the historic visit to France by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, who met French President Francois Hollande and senior officials for extensive talks.
The Cabinet further welcomed the resolutions of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers at their 33rd meeting in Tunisia, which condemned terrorism in all its forms, and those who support and finance extremist groups.
The ministers also praised the interior ministers for several other resolutions including the denunciation of Israel for what they described as “state terrorism” in occupied Palestinian territory; Iran’s attempts to destabilize Bahrain and other Arab nations; and Hezbollah’s plan to undermine the stability of countries in the region, according to an SPA report.
The Cabinet also appreciated the ministers’ support for measures taken by some member countries against Al-Qaeda and Daesh, and the Arab coalition’s efforts to ensure the Houthis and their allies are defeated and the legitimate government restored to power.
In this context, the Cabinet lauded the crown prince’s speech at the meeting urging nations to take up their responsibility to fight extremism, which he said would ensure stability and security in the region.
At the GCC level, the Cabinet highlighted the decision taken by the six-nation bloc to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization for its “continued hostile actions and flagrant violation of the GCC’s sovereignty, security and stability.”(Arab News)
