
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 5, 2013) – Philippine authorities captured Thursday an Abu Sayyaf sub-leader in an operation in the southern province of Basilan, officials said.
Officials said Abdulla Kallitut was tracked down in his hideout in the Riverside village in Isabela City after a long surveillance operation launched by joint law enforcement agencies, the police and military.
Kallitut, who was implicated in many killings and kidnappings in Basilan, is included in the government’s order of battle and has a P1 million bounty for his capture.
Officials did not say how security forces tracked down the militant leader or whether civilian informers were used in the operation. (Mindanao Examiner)
