Editor January 5, 2016

Zabair Hussain was found on Staniforth Road in Darnall on Thursday December 31 with serious head injuries.

The 20-year-old man was arrested this morning and remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Handley, who is leading the investigation, said: “We believe Mr Hussain may have been struck by a vehicle when he was injured on Staniforth Road, however, the focus of the investigation remains on identifying the men who savagely assaulted Mr Hussain beforehand.

“We have a number of positive leads which have come from the public and I would continue to urge anyone who may have any information relating to the incident to contact police.”

A 28-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of Mr Hussain’s murder, remains in police custody.(Lauren Clarke)
