ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 1, 2013) – Custom police seized thousands of liters of fuel from a ferry believed smuggled from Malaysia to Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, officials said.
Officials said the vessel’s kipper and owner failed to show any documents that would probe the cargo was legally transported.
The boat came from Tawi-Tawi province near the Malaysian border of Sabah where smuggling activities are rampant.
Officials said authorities swooped down on the vessel while when it docked at a shipyard in the coastal village of Ayala. (Mindanao Examiner)
