Soldier killed, 3 others wounded in NPA attack in Mindanao

COMPOSTELA VALLEY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 28, 2012) – One government soldier was killed and three others wounded in a landmine explosion blamed by the military to communist New People’s Army rebels in the southern Philippines, officials said Tuesday.

Officials said the Monday blast occurred in the village of San Vicentein Compostela Valley’s Maco town while troops from the 25^th Infantry Battalion were conducting a humanitarian mission.

The NPA, armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, is fighting for decades now for the establishment of a Maoist state in the country. (Mindanao Examiner)
