SULU – Top police officials praised the Sulu provincial government for its strong support to its law enforcement efforts and for sponsoring various trainings of policemen here.

Director Edgardo Ingking, who heads the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations for Western Mindanao, along with Chief Superintendent Pierre Bucsit, of the Sulu Anti-Kidnapping Task Force; and Senior Superintendent Agremiro Javier, the regional deputy chief for operations, met with Vice Governor Sakur Tan and provincial law makers and mayors and thank them for their support.

They also discussed on how to further improve law enforcement operations among others.

Vice Governor Tan – in behalf of Governor Totoh Tan – has pledged to support again the trainings of policemen in Sulu. The provincial government has previously sponsored the trainings in an effort to help the police in professionalizing its ranks.

The provincial government also sponsored two previous trainings – Police Intelligence Officers Course Class 2014-75, for commissioned officers, and Police Intelligence Course Class 2014-119, for rank and file personnel – started in November 2014 and ended in February this year.

“We want the training of our police to be all-year round, improve their knowledge of investigation, every aspect of law enforcement, even their posture, so they will have the respect of the citizens.”

“The vision must be community-driven and police must be efficient to help us perform our duties in governance. We want our law enforcers here in Sulu to have proper support just like the military, in terms of equipment, firepower, and logistics,” Vice Governor Tan said.

The provincial government also offered free legal services to law enforcers to protect them from civil and criminal charges that may arise while carrying out their legal duties.

“We must pursue legal offensive, properly serve warrants of arrest, and increase police presence in the communities along with adequate firepower to improve and sustain law enforcement operations. This would definitely increase effectiveness of our law enforcement goals,” Vice Governor Tan said.

He also told the visiting police officials to intensify the operations against illegal drugs and criminality perpetrated by lawless elements.

Inking said they will take actions on the recommendation of Vice Governor Tan. “We are taking notes of your recommendations and rest assured we will take action. Thank you very much on behalf of the police force for your valuable and unwavering support to us, law enforcers,” he said. (Franzie Alih)
