Survey vindicates Duterte’s drive vs. drugs, crime and corruption: Bong Go

Chief Editor January 3, 2019

FORMER SPECIAL Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go welcomed the results of the latest Social Weather Station Survey showing 74% of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Go said the survey results vindicate President Duterte’s sustained drive against drugs, crime and corruption and that the Filipino people are convinced of his sincere desire to bring about change and uplift the lives of our people. “Sa kabila po ng mga batikos sa kanya, malinaw na suportado ng ating mga kababayan ang laban ni Presidente laban sa droga, kriminalidad at corruption  at tama ang direksyon ng kanyang administrasyon,” he said.

“Pero ang mas importante ang resulta ng survey ay nagpapakita ng tiwala ng ating mga kababayan na tapat ang hangarin ni Presidente na magkaroon ng tunay na pagbabago at maiaangat ang kabuhayan ng mga Pilipino,” he added.

Go, who is running for the Senate in the 2019 elections, said the survey results demonstrate the people’s clamor to continue the programs of the Duterte administration.

Having served Duterte for 20 years, Go  said he decided to run for the Senate for support and help enhance the President’s programs. His legislative agenda includes measures to support the drive against drugs, crime, and corruption.

During the 1st National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awards Ceremony held Friday, Go proposed a bill on the creation and functionality of the ADAC, noting that currently, the council is a mere creation of a memorandum circular of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

“Pag maisabatas na ito, magkakaroon na po sila ng sariling pondo para magampanan ang kanilang tungkulin laban sa illegal na droga at magiging isang institution sa ilalim ng Duterte administration,” Go said.

Even as this developed, Go urged local officials to sustain the campaign against illegal drugs, saying “the fight is not yet over.” “You must maintain the high standards of dignity and process to keep your offices and communities drug-free,” Go said in his message as guest of honor in the event.

Also included in Go’s legislative agenda are programs on health, education, agriculture, housing, long-term sports development, localized peace talks, fire protection and prevention, creation of a Department of OFW, barangay welfare, and improved benefits for senior citizens.

The Fourth Quarter 2018 SWS survey, conducted from December 16-19, 2018, found 74% of adult Filipinos satisfied, 11% undecided, and 15% dissatisfied with the performance of Duterte as President.

Compared to September 2018, gross satisfaction with Pres. Duterte rose by 4 points from 70%, gross undecided fell by 3 points from 14%, and gross dissatisfaction fell by 1 point from 16 %.

This gives a net satisfaction rating of +60, classified by SWS as very good, and up by 6 points from the very good +54 in September 2018. (Jun Ledesma)
