
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 23, 2013) – A suspected robber was shot and wounded on Saturday after he tried to rob a parked van on a village notorious for drugs gangs in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said Najal Musa, 19, was shot in the chest by the still unidentified occupant of the van parked at Acacia Drive in Purok Dos in the coastal village of Recodo. The van sped off after the shooting leaving the wounded Musa, who is also an alleged drug pusher, behind.
“Victim sustained a lone gunshot wound in his right breast and was brought to Brent Hospital for medical treatment. Suspect immediately escaped and sped away towards unknown direction,” said Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman.
“Victim is a known hold-upper and drug pusher in the area, in which several complaints have been lodge against him by his victims at Zamboanga City Police Station 9 in Ayala (village). Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the victim approached a parked van and was about to stage hold-up on the occupants of the said vehicle, however before he could conduct his nefarious activities, he was shot.”
The identity of the shooter is still unknown, police said. (Mindanao Examiner)
