
ZAMBOANGA CITY – An unidentified man held up a teenager in broad daylight in downtown Zamboanga City in southern Philippines and carted her wallet before fleeing to a crowded street.
The 18-year old victim said she was robbed near Sky Park Hotel which is adjacent to Shop-o-Rama department store at around 10 a.m. of December 15.
She said the robber, who was wearing a cap, accosted her and pointed a sharp object on her back and demanded all her money. Out of fear, the victim said she was forced to surrender her wallet to the lone robber and fled immediately towards Urdaneta Street, a busy spot in downtown area.
The victim, who is from the village of Tumaga, said she reported the matter to the police. She said she lost P800 to the robber.
Just recently, a woman, Sheila Sthepahan Agamata, was also held up by 5 men outside Shoppers Plaza where she was waiting for a ride home.
Agamata said a man accosted her and pointed a sharp object on her side and told her to go to a corner where four other men, including a minor, were waiting. She said the incident occurred at around 4.10 p.m. on December 10.
She said the men forcibly took all her foods that she bought at Jollibee and cakes, including P150 from her wallet before fleeing. She said the men told her they were hungry.
It was unknown if there were policemen in the area at the time of the incident, but the place is near the main police headquarters. (Mindanao Examiner)
