ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested one of two snatchers who stole the handbag of an old woman after a motorcycle crash in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, officials said Sunday.
Officials said Elmer Lim, 37, has been arrested, but his companion Jovani Asoy managed to escape following the crash. The duo was accused of stealing the bag of the 63-year old Lolita Alfaro who was driving a jeep on her way home.
She said her jacket was on top of her bag when the duo grabbed it and fell on the motorcycle’s sprocket and they crashed. People who witnessed the snatching quickly surrounded the two men, but Asoy made a dash out of the crowd.
Officials said a police team was dispatched to track down Asoy. It was unknown whether the duo was behind the series of holdups and snatching and robberies here perpetrated by motorcycle-riding men. (Mindanao Examiner)
