ZAMBOANGA CITY – Apparently, the statues of saints and Jesus Christ have failed to deter a thief, who barged into a church on a village named after Saint Joseph in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines and stole assorted items and cash.
Police said the incident occurred in the village of San Jose Gusu on January 11 and the daring thief carted two units of gasoline transformers, a pair of electronic amplifiers, a DVD player, assorted Christmas decorations and at least P7,500 in cash.
The thief, according to the police, sneaked in the church by destroying one of its window grills.
No Christian icons were reported stolen from the church and police said it is investigating the burglary – with or without miracles – to arrest the thief. (Mindanao Examiner)
