
DAVAO CITY – Police raided a communist rebel hideout in southern Philippines and captured a senior guerrilla t leader long wanted by the government for his crimes.
Police said Jordan Donillo alias Ka Noli, was tracked down late Sunday in the village called Magnaga in Compostela Valley’s Pantukan town. Civilian informants provided critical intelligence that led to the capture of Donillo, one of the most notorious leaders of the New People’s Army in Mindanao.
Authorities provided no other details about Donillo’s arrest, but said the rebel leader is included in the so-called ‘order of battle’ and has a p2.5 million bounty for his capture.
Donillo, a member of the communist’s politburo, was also being linked to the series of deadly attacks against police and military targets in the restive region where the NPA is waging a separatist war in an effort to put up a Maoist state.
He was also behind many attacks on police stations in Mindanao and assassination of soldiers and policemen in the provinces.
The NPA has not issued any statement about Donillo’s arrest. (Mindanao Examiner)
