ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 20, 2013) – Police said a business woman was killed and 2 of her companions were wounded in an attack by motorcycle gunmen in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines.
Police said the gunmen shot the trio who were traveling on a motorcycle in the village of San Jose Gusu late Friday. The gunmen were tailing the victims and then shot them without warning.
The assailants took the woman’s bag and fled. Police identified the slain trader as Evelyn Cuento, 34, and her two companions as Charlito Elumbaring, 24, and Marjun Vesorio.
Police said investigators recovered 8 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol from the area.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the shootings. The motive is still unknown, although police suspect that robbery is likely behind the attack. (Mindanao Examiner)
