ZAMBOANGA CITY – A tricycle driver surrendered to the police after killing another driver in a knife duel following a long-standing grudge in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines.
Police said the 29-year old Jay-R Santiago also surrendered his knife after fatally stabbing Jerwin Gutierrez, 38, his neighbor.
Santiago said he had been threatened by the victim for the past days and decided to arm himself for protection. But their paths crossed and Santiago claimed Gutierrez tried to attack him with a screw driver and he only defended himself and stabbed his neighbor.
Gutierrez ran away from the attack and fell dead near a creek. Police said Santiago is facing homicide charges. (Ely Dumaboc)
