ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 29, 2014) – Motorcycle gunmen killed a 23-year old Filipino-Chinese and wounded another man in an attack early Sunday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.

Police said the attack killed Marvin Luy Yee while the wounded has been identified as Gerald Usain, 23. The attack occurred near Don MC Enriquez Drive at Don Alfaro Street in the village of Tetuan.

The assailants fled after the shooting and police investigators recovered 10 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol.

Police did not give details of the investigation or whether Yee and Usain were together at the time of the shooting. The motive of the attack is still unknown and no individual claimed responsibility for the killing.

Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga City where hired killers are actively operating. (Mindanao Examiner)
