Umno General Assembly Closed To Media To Avert News Manipulation – Sec-Gen – Bernama

Editor November 25, 2015

UMNO has decided that its general assembly next month will be a closed-door meeting without media coverage to avert manipulation of the news, said party secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He said there was a tendency for the media, particularly the online media and news portals, to publish incorrect news and twist the facts.

The prohibition would also apply to the mainstream media, he told a news conference at the lobby of Parliament House here today.

“Some of you, particularly the online media, like to spin (the news). We do not like the news to be spun the wrong way,” he said.

Tengku Adnan said there would also be no live telecast of the general assembly proceedings via closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) as in the past.(Bernama)
