COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 5, 2013) – Unidentified men torched several houses in the restive Muslim province of Maguindanao in the southern Philippines, reports said on Saturday.

It said villagers, fearing for possible attacks, fled the town of Datu Montawal following the arson which occurred just near a police post.

The motive of the attack is still unknown. Police and military officials and the town’s authority did not give any statement about the arson, or who was behind it.

Other reports said the arson may be connected to political feud. (Mindanao Examiner)
