ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 14, 2013) – At least 16 people were injured after their van crashed on a huge balete tree in the southern Philippine province of Basilan, police said Friday.
Police said it is investigating the accident which occurred on the village of Ubit in Lamitan City on Friday afternoon.
Other reports said the driver was trying to avoid a dog when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed to the tree. Villagers rushed the wounded passengers to hospital, including the driver who is among seriously injured in the mishap.
