ZAMBOANGA CITY – Motorcycle gunmen shot dead a villager in an attack in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said Monday.
Police said the 39-year old Adzhar Alamia was shot several times in the village of Tumaga. The attackers fled after the shooting which occurred late Sunday.
Alamia was brought to hospital where he died. Police said the motive of the shooting is still unknown. Police recovered three bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol in the area.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the killing, but gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga where hired killers are actively operating. (Mindanao Examiner)
