TWO ZAMBOANGA RESTAURANTS were nearly duped after a man, who posed as Vice Mayor Rommel Agan, placed an order for food and drinks on the phone, but their owners’ suspicion had foiled the scam.
The restaurant owners reported the matter to Agan, who was shocked to hear the scam. “I received calls from two food establishments in the City inquiring and confirming whether I placed orders over the phone for food and drinks at their establishments. I was surprised by the reports since I did not place any orders and it’s not my style or habit to place orders over the phone. Fortunately, the owners of the establishments personally know me and went out of their way to verify with me,” Agan said.
Agan said the unidentified poser used this cell phone number 0935-3027164 to place the food orders on the restaurants. “Apparently there is an impostor claiming to be me and making these orders at the food establishments. The impostor is using this mobile number 0935-3027164 in placing the orders,” he said.
“Should you receive these kinds of calls, please do not entertain these orders for food and drinks and do not be a victim of this modus of these unscrupulous individuals. You may also report this modus to the Office of the Vice Mayor (062) 992-3137 so we can coordinate with the proper authorities and track these unscrupulous individuals and send them to wherever they deserve to be brought,” Agan added.
