
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 18, 2012) – Police arrested a notorious Abu Sayyaf militant wanted for a string of murder charges and kidnappings in the restive Muslim province of Basilan in the southern Philippines, officials said.
Officials said the militant, who was identified as Arasani, was captured in Lamitan City after police forces tracked down his hideout. It was not immediately known if any weapons were recovered from the militant.
Arasani was allegedly involved in previous kidnappings for ransom and attacks on soldiers and policemen in Basilan.
Police said Arasani is being investigated for other atrocities in Basilan, one of five provinces under the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. (Mindanao Examiner)
