Western Mindanao Command may media ban sa New Year’s Call ng mga opisyal!

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 7, 2013) – Tuluyan ng isinara ng Western Mindanao Command ang gate nito sa media matapos na ipagbawal kahapon sa mga manunulat ang coverage ng New Year’s Call ng mga opisyal ng militar sa Zamboanga City.

Naunang binatikos ng media ang pamunuan ng Western Mindanao Command sa ilalim ni Gen. Rey Ardo dahil sa mula ng naupo ito nuong Oktubre bilang commander ay hindi pa humaharap sa media at wala rin inilalabas na anumang mga press releases ukol sa mga karahasan na nagaganap sa nasasakupan nito.

Dating commander si Ardo ng 6th Infantry Division bago ito napunta sa Western Mindanao Command matapos na lisanin ni Gen. Noel Coballes ang puwesto nito.

Tulad ni Ardo ay naging mailap rin sa media si Coballes na ngayon ay Vice Chief of Staff ng Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Ang New Year’s Call ay ang pagbibigay pugay ng mga ibat-ibang commander ng militar sa pamunuan ng Western Mindanao Command at ito ay nagsisilbing parang party na rin ng mga opisyal.

Hindi naman agad mabatid ang dahilan ng media ban, ngunit wala umano sa plano ng Western Mindanao Command na ipa-cover ang noon ay “open to the public” na New Year’s Call.

Dedma lamang ang media sa aksyon ng Western Mindanao Command at hindi binigyan ng importansya ang naturang pagtitipon.  (Mindanao Examiner)
