WestMinCom naghigpit sa media; fotogs at video bawal na!

PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 14, 2012) – Umaalma ang media sa Zamboanga City dahil sa umano’y kakaibang paghihigpit ng Western Mindanao Command sa mga mga mamamahayag na nagko-cover doon.

Mahigpit na umanong ipinagbabawal ni Maj. Gen. Noel Coballes ang lahat ng media na makuha ng litrato o footage ng mga sundalong sugatan at nasa pagamutan sa loob ng nasabing kampo.

Hindi naman mabatid kung bakit naghigpit si Coballes na dating hepe ng 1st Infantry Division sa Pagadian City. Hindi rin makunan ng pahayag ang mga tagapagsalita ng militar ukol sa paghihigpit.

Malaki umano ang kaibahan ni Coballes sa mga nakalipas na hepe ng Western Mindanao Command na madalas ay ‘accessible’ sa media. Pinalitan ni Coballes si Lt. Gen. Raymuno Ferrer na nagretiro sa edad na 56.

Maging ang Defense Press Corps sa Western Mindanao Command ay dismayado sa mga ipinag-utos na paghihigpit ni Coballes. Ni hindi rin ito humaharap sa media at walang regular na press conference itong isinasagawa sa mga mamamahayag upang mabatid ang ibat-ibang programa at progreso ng mga operasyon ng militar kontra terorismo at kidnappings sa Western Mindanao.

Noon ay ilang ulit na rin nag-boycott ang media sa Zamboanga matapos ng paghihigpit ng ilang mga commander sa Western Mindanao Command sa pagbibigay ng impormasyon sa mga mamamahayag. (Mindanao Examiner)
